I'm learning how to be patient with Windows Vista. My urge to click randomly all over the screen, open all the windows I can and run multiple programs has been curbed. With this operating system, you learn to wait. Wait for it to process what you're doing, for the system to catch up.
Now I open 2-3 windows, I run 3-5 tabs on IE7 and I don't open MS Outlook unless I want the laptop to revert to medieval times. That's about the extent of my daily computing activities.
Shutting down is the same thing. You learn to plan ahead. If I want to leave the office by 7:00 p.m., I have to shutdown by 6:45 p.m. And knowing this, I am able to schedule my exit with precision and lessen the chance of meeting irate boyfriends and family members when I show up late.
I'm excited to see what other virtues or positive traits I'll pick up with this operating system. Perhaps wby the time Vista SP2 or Windows 7 comes along, I'll be a saint.

Wifey
Wife-y. Is how I'm going to start calling Wi-Fi. I don't think it'll catch on though.
And so... we've moved into another office.
And we're all supposed to be free and happy with wireless Internet. And I am. Of course I am. It's great and all. But our server files are missing... and I'm not connected to any printer and its all so blah. I miss my LAN cable.
In this regard, we have decided to form a petition. The "Bring Back the LAN Cable Petition to the Workplace Petition (yes I want to say petition twice because it makes it more serious). There is no stealing here in the 5th floor tower (codename: office). We are on a secure network, which is great. But there are too many inconveniences, too many loose ends.
So I haven't really made up my mind yet if I'm happy about this situation. Anyway, here's to hoping that things shape up soon.

Something Amazing
I'm in Starbucks Pearl Drive waiting for Gino, who's over at Escriva with the Elroy boys and I discover something amazing. I had thought I would be able to access an unsecured wireless network while I sipped my coffee and enjoyed my danish but networks were pretty tight around these parts. So the page opens to the default Globe WIZ login page. And I'm browsing through the site, looking for possible options (cheap options). And I click into the WIZ ON option.
If you're a Globe Handyphone postpaid subscriber, you can use sign up for WIZ by sending a text message: WIZ ON to 2333. It's P2.00 per minute, a bit pricey (P120 for an hour!) but if your bored or cash-less this is a pretty good option. In a couple of seconds, Globe sends you your username and password. The password expires after 24 hours, so you'll have to activate WIZ again. After some certificate glitches, was able to login (Restart your PC if it doesn't go through, worked for me). To logout, i typed in http://logout.globequest.com.ph on the web browser and texted WIZ OFF to 2333.
My dad will receive the bill on June 12th, so we'll see how long I was actually online.
I've been trying to set up the new time browsing scheme by Globe, but have yet to connect successfully. I think my SE K750i settings have gone wack since I switched from KB browsing to time browsing... will write about that soon.
Also on a happy note, sales guy in the Sony Ericsson shop in Greenbelt 1 said SE X1 will be coming in in the last week of August 2008. Ye-hes!
