I'm in Starbucks Pearl Drive waiting for Gino, who's over at Escriva with the Elroy boys and I discover something amazing. I had thought I would be able to access an unsecured wireless network while I sipped my coffee and enjoyed my danish but networks were pretty tight around these parts. So the page opens to the default Globe WIZ login page. And I'm browsing through the site, looking for possible options (cheap options). And I click into the WIZ ON option.
If you're a Globe Handyphone postpaid subscriber, you can use sign up for WIZ by sending a text message: WIZ ON to 2333. It's P2.00 per minute, a bit pricey (P120 for an hour!) but if your bored or cash-less this is a pretty good option. In a couple of seconds, Globe sends you your username and password. The password expires after 24 hours, so you'll have to activate WIZ again. After some certificate glitches, was able to login (Restart your PC if it doesn't go through, worked for me). To logout, i typed in http://logout.globequest.com.ph on the web browser and texted WIZ OFF to 2333.
My dad will receive the bill on June 12th, so we'll see how long I was actually online.
I've been trying to set up the new time browsing scheme by Globe, but have yet to connect successfully. I think my SE K750i settings have gone wack since I switched from KB browsing to time browsing... will write about that soon.
Also on a happy note, sales guy in the Sony Ericsson shop in Greenbelt 1 said SE X1 will be coming in in the last week of August 2008. Ye-hes!
